  • G1oogle is reportedly planning to release its first foldable Pixel phone in the fourth quarter of 2021, according to a report from 9to5Google citing an internal company document.
  • The foldable device is codenamed "passport."
  • The launch would come after companies like Samsung, Huawei, and Motorola have released foldable phones.
  • Google previously said it had been thinking about foldable phones, but the company hasn't expressed any plans to develop or release such a product.

Google is thinking about tossing its first foldable pixel telephone into rivalry with Samsung and other telephone creators in the final quarter of 2021, 9to5 Google referred to a released inner record.

The record expresses that Google has a foldable gadget codenamed "Identification" for every current telephone and unpublished models of the organization's portable working framework.

9to5 Google additionally expressed that the archive couldn't show Google's equipment group plans as it was intended to be created for Android. Google declined to remark on the story.

Organizations, for example, Samsung, Motorola, and Huawei presented their first foldable telephone models in 2019, in spite of the fact that it isn't yet clear how well these models are selling. Samsung has its third foldable telephone in the Galaxy Z overlay 2 which it just reported on Wednesday

Samsung's foldable phone lineup proves that such devices are still in their infancy and determine what the industry does.

For example, a small number of reviewers found that Samsung's first foldable phone was criticized after its test models broke down after a few days of use. Putting things aside, some reviewers have described the original Galaxy Fold as too expensive, and have pointed out other issues in the phone's design, such as its small cover display.

Samsung ran with a completely different design for the second foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip, announced in February, the Galaxy Z Flip, which looks like an old-school flip phone but with a curved glass screen. Now, its latest foldable phone combines elements of both the Galaxy Fold and Z Flip, offering a folding tablet-like design with bendable glass and a Zenge that opens at multiple angles like the Z Flip.

Google said last year that it was thinking about foldable phones, but it has yet to see a case of hard use for them.

“I don’t think the product is still innovative enough,” Mario Quiroz, a former Google executive who previously oversaw the company’s Pixel division, told Business Insider in May 2019. "Fold your phone, it's attractive, and it has a few extra advantages over a tablet in turn, but the 'breakthrough' thing you say is not like that. Wow, that's something very different."

One of the biggest questions about foldable smartphones is whether anyone is actually buying them. Market research firm Gartner predicts that foldable phones will account for only 5% of high-end smartphone sales by 2023, with strategy analysts predicting that 100 million foldable smartphones will be shipped by 2022. This may sound like a lot, but the International Information Corporation Data forecasts that 1.38 billion smartphones will be shipped in 2019.
